Olly, whose real name is Federico Olivieri, is an Italian singer born in Genoa on May 5, 2001. He has studied music and singing since childhood and enrolled in the conservatory as a teenager. He discovered songwriting as his best form of self-expression in 2014, when he wrote his first lyrics. Musically versatile, he refuses to be categorized into a specific genre, letting art guide his direction. His main influences include Marracash, Wild Bandana, Fugees, T-Pain, Post Malone, Young Thug, and Roddy Ricch. At just 15 years old, he released his first track, which later became part of the project Piacere Mixtape, making a name for himself in the Genoese music scene. In 2017, he collaborated with rapper Matsby on the project Namaste EP. The following year, after a period in England, he released songs produced by his friend Yanomi on Spotify, including Sarah, La Vasistas, and Pace. In 2019, his single Il primo amore gained over 2 million views on YouTube, marking a turning point in his career. That summer, he performed at the Goa Boa Festival, stepping onto a major stage for the first time. In 2020, he released Non mi va and Mai e poi mai, followed by his first solo EP, Io sono, created with Yanomi and JVLI. In 2022, his single Un’altra volta went viral on TikTok, surpassing 5 million streams on Spotify. That same year, he competed in Sanremo Giovani with L’anima balla, earning a spot among the Big Artists at the Sanremo Festival 2023, where he performed Polvere. After releasing new music and performing extensively, 2025 marked his ultimate breakthrough: he won the Sanremo Festival with Balorda Nostalgia, a heartfelt ballad about the beauty of a love that has ended. The song, initially titled Bastarda nostalgia, was renamed in honor of his grandmother, who often said, "I have a bit of a muddled head". With his victory at Sanremo 2025, Olly has solidified himself as one of the most representative voices of Generation Z, blending talent, energy, and authenticity.
