On Friday, October 10, 2025, Taylor Swift reaffirmed her status as the record-breaking pop superstar with her new album The Life of a Showgirl, which achieved the title of the best-selling album in history during its debut week, surpassing 3.5 million copies sold worldwide, including 3.2 million physical copies and 300,000 from streaming.
In Italy, the album dominates the FIMI/NIQ charts, reaching number one in both the Top Albums and the CD, Vinyl, and Cassette rankings. The lead single The Fate of Ophelia debuted at number six on the FIMI/NIQ Singles chart, while eleven songs entered the Top100 in total.
The Fate of Ophelia also became the most streamed song in a single week in Spotify’s history and the second highest new entry on Italian radio. The song’s music video, which has surpassed 47 million views on YouTube, premiered worldwide in the film The Official Release Party of a Showgirl, which topped the U.S. box office and ranked third in Italy with nearly 370,000 euros in revenue.
Even before its release, The Life of a Showgirl broke multiple records, becoming the most pre-saved album ever on Spotify with over 5 million pre-saves, surpassing a record previously held by Swift herself with The Tortured Poets Department (2024). Within 24 hours of release, the album became the most streamed album of 2025 on Spotify, Apple Music, and Amazon Music, and set a new record with 1.2 million vinyls sold on its first day.
All tracks are featured in Apple Music’s Top100, and nine songs in Spotify’s Top200. The single The Fate of Ophelia also holds the record for the most listened-to song in a single day on Spotify and remains steady in the Top50 Italy.
The album, which includes 12 tracks and a single collaboration with Sabrina Carpenter, is available in vinyl, CD, and cassette formats, as well as in Deluxe CD editions featuring four limited-time covers: Sweat and Vanilla Perfume, It’s Frightening, It’s Rapturous, and It’s Beautiful. Six vinyl variants were also released and sold out within minutes, including the The Crowd Is Your King Edition.
With 19 gold and 18 platinum records in Italy, Taylor Swift continues to set new milestones and solidify her position as a global icon. After regaining ownership of her first six album masters last May, the artist crowns a year of triumphs with her Eras Tour, the highest-grossing tour of all time, and becomes the first female artist in history to surpass 100 million albums sold in the United States.
