Phil Collins has spoken about the possibility of meeting Oasis at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 induction ceremony, where both the legendary musician and the Manchester band will be honoured alongside Billy Idol, Iron Maiden, Joy Division/New Order, Sade, Luther Vandross and Wu-Tang Clan.
The relationship between Collins and Noel Gallagher has long been defined by outspoken comments. In the 2016 documentary Supersonic, Gallagher famously described Collins as the antichrist of music, joking that he wanted to remove both Collins and Sting from the charts and even claiming he wanted Phil Collins' severed head in his fridge before the end of the decade.
Gallagher continued to criticise Collins in later interviews, while Collins responded in 2005 by describing Oasis as rude, unpleasant and not as talented as they believed themselves to be.
In a new interview with MOJO, Collins revealed that all of this year's Rock Hall inductees have been invited to a lunch before the ceremony, making it very likely that he will cross paths with Noel and Liam Gallagher.
Reflecting on Noel's famous remark, Collins suggested that it may have been inspired by a Genesis concert Gallagher attended in the 1980s. He believes the dramatic performance of Mama, particularly his theatrical vocal delivery and the lighting on his face, could have been what led Noel to label him the antichrist of music. Collins added that he prefers to give Gallagher the benefit of the doubt and assumes he does not genuinely believe that description.
Noel Gallagher has not publicly responded to Collins' latest comments.
The 2026 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame class sets a new record with six British acts being inducted in the same year. For Collins, this marks his first induction as a solo artist after previously entering the Hall in 2010 as a member of Genesis. Oasis, meanwhile, are finally being inducted after receiving nominations in both 2024 and 2025.
Liam Gallagher, who previously dismissed the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame with a series of outspoken remarks and even encouraged fans not to vote for the band, adopted a different tone this year by thanking supporters and describing the honour as a dream come true. Whether the ceremony will also bring a long-awaited reconciliation between Phil Collins and the Gallagher brothers remains one of the event's most intriguing storylines.
