My Chemical Romance have officially confirmed that they will take The Black Parade on a world tour in 2026. The news was revealed on September 22, 2025, through a teaser video in which the band appeared in their iconic outfits from that era, setting the tone for what is expected to be one of the most anticipated tours of the upcoming year.
European and UK dates
The tour will begin on June 30 in Liverpool at Anfield Stadium. It will then move through cities like Glasgow and London, where the band will perform three consecutive nights at Wembley Stadium, before heading to Italy and concluding the European leg on July 18 in Madrid.
North American leg
The U.S. shows will kick off on August 9 at Citi Field in New York, with Franz Ferdinand as special guests. Dates will include stops in Nashville, Washington D.C., Detroit, Minneapolis, Denver, San Diego, Phoenix and San Antonio.
Special guests will vary by city, including Iggy Pop, Modest Mouse, Sleater-Kinney, The Breeders, Babymetal, Jimmy Eat World, Pierce the Veil and The Mars Volta.
The tour will close with a five-night residency at the Hollywood Bowl in Los Angeles from October 21 to 27, a finale that is already seen as historic.
Context and meaning
The Black Parade, released in 2006, is considered one of the most influential albums of the emo and alternative rock scene of the 2000s. Tracks like Welcome to the Black Parade and Famous Last Words became anthems for an entire generation.
This tour marks the 20th anniversary of the album’s release, adding a strong nostalgic value and promising to attract fans who grew up with its songs.
Criticism and expectations
The announcement highlights how relevant My Chemical Romance still are in today’s music scene. At a time when many bands from the emo era are making comebacks, Gerard Way’s group positions itself as the leading force of the revival.
Still, there is debate about whether such tours rely more on nostalgia than on new creative projects. While many welcome the chance to relive a classic live, others point out that the band hasn’t released a new studio album in years, which could limit their impact among younger audiences.
Nevertheless, the return of The Black Parade to the stage promises a theatrical production and a star-studded lineup that makes this tour one of the most ambitious of 2026.
