Mainstream

Mainstream music has become popular in the modern wild thanks to an influx of its catchy rhythms, bold virtuosity and infectious melodies. It has come to encompass a plethora of genres ranging from Pop to Rap, combining high calibre lyricism with profound emotional resonance. This style of music was also made widely accessible as prominent musicians opened up their creative process by making music that was accessible nearly anywhere worldwide with the increase in streaming services. This ubiquitous approach highlights mainstream’s flexibility across genres for artists strongly invested in reflecting modern times yet still with strong rhythmic foundations that cannot be overlooked. Furthermore, mainstream combines a talented roster of celebrities with friends and family driven grassroots projects that steadily accrue small yet well deserved followings. As time progresses this ongoing fluctuation between grandiose gestures through single hits and soft personal affirmations from emerging stars bring out a sense of nostalgia yet at the same time revitalized enthusiasm not necessarily present before that allowed it to proliferate enough to get one thinking ‘What’s Popular?’
